Strengthening the Canine Human Relationship Through Education.
Beginning in May of 2009 and through the remainder of the year we started taking our initial step at forming our organization. We took our first shot at creating a web presence and registered our domain names HelpingIdahoDog.com and HelpingIdahoDogs.org. We also registered with the Secretary of State as doing business in Idaho. What a great feeling that was!!
We have met many supporters along the way to building our organization. Learning what resources are available to nonprofits is an education of its own.
We have partnered with our mentors at our local SCORE office and we have learned a great deal from the very helpful people at the Idaho Nonprofit Center.
We submitted our 501(c)(3) paperwork at the end of December 2009. We are happy to report our paperwork flew through the Internal Revenue Service and we received notification of our status on February 24th!! Record time from what we are told!
In the meantime we have started forming our educational programs and our therapy and service dog programs. We are conducting seminars, training classes, mini workshops and school visits.
Partnering with many other nonprofits and businesses in Idaho we are reaching out to at-risk-kids and our youth. We are promoting compassionate dog training and encouraging our children to look at canine professional careers and volunteer to help people in need of a friendly visit from our most loved companion, the family dog.
We have a lot of work to do. We are taking the time we need to build a strong foundation to our organization. As mentioned above, we are involved with a mentor program with SCORE. We are working closely with retired and semi retired executives as we continue towards building our nonprofit to meet the educational needs in our communities.
