Strengthening the Canine Human Relationship through Education

Mollie Mangerich moved to Boise just over a year ago and works for the City of the Meridian as their Environmental Division Manager.  “Having completed my Masters degree in Spokane several years ago, it feels great to be back in the Inland Northwest, a landscape and geography that has always held my fondness and grounded me in that special ‘sense of place”.  Mollie’s public service career path has always been focused in the environmental field and allowed her to live in many states, from WA to KS to CA.

When not doing work for pay, Mollie was on the Board of Directors, and then President of the non-profit “Friends of the Kaw”, a river preservation group in Lawrence, KS dedicated to the protection and increased public access to the 171 mile long Kansas “Kaw” River.  “With less that 2% of lands dedicated to public use in the state of Kansas, the Kansas River became our focal point to bring back this iconic river for compatible recreational use via advocacy, education, and outreach to communities along its banks & throughout the state”.

Being new to the area, I was poking around to see who I could get involved with locally – provide some support financially, as well as volunteering a bit of time in tasks I felt I could provide support in.  I learned about Helping Idaho Dogs, through the excellent folks at H3 Pet Supply in Meridian.  I checked out their website and was drawn immediately to their Mission and Vision and the range of services they provide through education, outreach and advocacy.  “All the dogs I’ve had in my life have come through adoptions and rescue – and to see this group providing training to both dogs and handlers from a variety of backgrounds and experiences – I knew they were changing people’s and dog’s lives for the better.”

Mollie encourages those who can, to join her in volunteering and/or donating financially to Helping Idaho Dogs. “No amount of time or money are too small – wonderfully positive outcomes come through lots of small efforts and donations.   I’m deeply appreciative of the depth of knowledge, business acumen, and strategic planning this group applies to its programming and advocacy.”

To me, Helping Idaho Dogs is changing lives – both canine and human.  I feel fortunate to be able to help out as I can.
